Philadelphia Eagles
2022-2023 Record: 13-4
My Prediction: 12-5
The Philadelphia Eagles are one of the most well-rounded and complete team in the entirety of the NFL. They drafted a young QB in Jalen Hurts who has blossomed into a top 5 QB in 2023. To help Hurts, they traded for wide receiver AJ Brown and drafted wide receiver Devonta Smith in 2021. At running back, they traded for underrated star D’Andre Swift from the Detroit Lions. Although they lost players on their defense like safety CJ Gardener Johnson. To put pressure on the other quarterback, their defensive line consists of players like Hassan Reddick, Jordan Davis and Brandon Graham. I feel that with their new pickups and experience under players like Hurts and Smith’s belt that they will be nearly identical to how they were last season.
Dallas Cowboys
2022-2023 Record: 12-5
My Prediction: 13-4
The Dallas Cowboys have always been consistent regular season performers, averaging a +.500 record throughout the last 10 years. However, in all the seasons that they have made the playoffs, the Cowboys have never capitalized on their regular season success. This season they plan on making it further than the first round. In the off-season, they held onto star running back Tony Pollard and traded for former Defensive Player of the year Stephon Gilmore to pair him with cornerback Trevon Diggs. On offense, the Cowboy’s released longtime Running Back Ezekiel Elliot and signed veteran wide receiver Brandin Cooks. Even with all of these additions they still have one large and outstanding problem. Last season, Dak Prescott went only 2 games without throwing an interception. This continued to be a problem in the postseason, where he threw 2 interceptions in their divisional round loss to the 49ers. I think with how good Prescott’s weapons are this season, he is bound for regular season success. When he has his off games, he has one of the best defenses in the league, who shut the Giants out week 1, going out and ready to get their offense the ball right back. My regular season prediction for the Dallas Cowboys is a 13-4 record.
New York Giants
2022-2023 Record: 9-7-1
My Prediction: 6-10
The New York Giants in the 2022-2023 season started off very strong at a 6-1 record, riding along a Masterclass from running back Saquon Barkley.
Why do I have them missing the playoffs this season?
It is simply because Saquon is only human, and he can’t keep up game winning numbers every game.
Don’t get me wrong, Daniel Jones is the future in New York. He is a 6 ‘5, fast and strong arm QB. if he was in a different situation, the world would look at him like a star. However, with no star WR to aid him in his earlier years, he is making do with what he has in New York.
You could argue that the Giants took pressure off Barkley by trading for former Raider tight-end Darren Waller. Sadly, Waller will not have the same success when an offense isn’t flowing through him as the main guy. He is the #1 receiving threat, but when Brian Daboll has to give the running and passing game equal touches, Waller will be in the same situation as Kenny Golladay was last season. Big trade, little to no performance. Saquon won’t be able to win six games on his own like last season. They will take a big fall-off this season.
Washington Commanders
2022-2023 Record: 8-8-1
My Prediction: 5-12
There isn’t much hope. Week 1 they play the weak and injured Cardinals and most likely will shock some people by winning, however no success will follow this. Their QB isn’t their problem, I believe quarterback Sam Howell could be at best decent if he was put into a good situation. However, this isn’t the case, and he is left on the Commanders. I don’t fully mean this in a bad way, as he has weapons like wide receiver Terry McLaurin and wide receiver Jahan Dotson and running back Brian Robinson. On paper, this offense looks decent. When you look at the defensive side is where everything goes downhill. Two years ago, they had a star defensive end rusher in Chase Young. In the present day, injuries are hampering the 24-year-olds career. I believe that this team is the under-dog going into any game and will only be looked at as an equal when they face off against a team like the Chicago Bears. I predict that the Washington Commanders will have a horrible season and end with a 5-12 record.
