Sophie VanDerMaelen, Features Editor

Hi everyone! I’m the Features section editor for the 2023-2024 school year. I was a reporter last year and I’m so excited to take this step up to an editor role. I love writing (of course) and I’m on the crew team. I will bring a variety of both fun and impactful pieces to the Saga, while adding my own unique touch to my pages and pieces.

I hope to bring recognizable students and adults into light and allow them to make a bigger impact by sharing their voices and stories to the ELPS students and staff. I want to make an impact in our school by sharing the personal experiences and issues of people in and out of our community, so others can understand those issues by putting themselves in their shoes. Being an editor will allow me to spread my voice and ideas to more people.

My goal for Features is to influence readers to become more accepting, understanding individuals. My section is created by students and about students, and we are always looking for new ideas. Don’t be afraid to reach out to me by emailing me at [email protected] if there’s anything you’d like to see in the Saga.

Happy Reading!
