Whether you’re a Swiftie or not, no one can deny the extensive support for Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour this past year. With Swift wrapping up the first U.S. leg of the tour Aug. 9, she has single handedly helped the economy of multiple cities and towns that have been crushed since the pandemic in 2020. To put the considerable size of the tour into scale, Swift plays two or three Super Bowls a weekend.
Not only are the stadiums getting money, but local business, hotels, and restaurants also greatly benefit from each show. Each attendee has been spent around $1,350 per show which has boosted the economy of each city by millions of dollars in just one week. Chicago source released data that $39 million in hotel revenue was produced the weekend Swift was in town.
The Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia stated that May was the strongest month for hotel revenue as many people willing to make the trip after being cooped up since the pandemic. The tour is projected to generate around $5 billion in the U.S. alone; Swift is expected to get the record for the most profitable tour in music history.
