Heidi Bard:
When cafeteria staff member Heidi Bard isn’t at work, she can be found with a bow and arrow in her hand. Although students who get pizza see her every day, they probably don’t know how cool she actually is. Ms. Bard is the “Queen of Pizza” as she helps make it every day. She always has a contagious smile that lifts her coworkers’ spirits.
Ms. Bard loves gardening and practicing archery. She has an archery range right in her backyard where she spends a lot of her time. When she does not have a bow and arrow in her hand, she can be found watering her plants or reading. Recently, she has been reading the book, “Where The Crawdads Sing.” She is also anxiously waiting for the new season of “Stranger Things.”
Ms. Bard was born and raised in Peoria, Arizona. She and her husband moved to East Lyme after getting married. Her husband and her have been married for 23 years. She has two daughters, a 22-year-old in the army and an 11-year-old. She is so proud of her kids. “I’ve worked very hard with them and they are very good girls.”
Ms. Bard enjoys her job. “I love interacting with the kids and seeing everyone grow up,” Ms. Bard said. If you ever get pizza, be sure to thank Heidi Bard!
Angela Goode:
Angela Goode grew up in New London and married her high school sweetheart, who is currently the head custodian at Lillie B. Haynes Elementary School.
At home, Ms. Goode likes to watch TV and spend time with her family. She watches “General Hospital” every night with her two cats, Selena and Damian. Her daughter, Jamie Moreno, also works at ELHS as a cafeteria staff member. Ms. Goode is very proud of her beautiful family.
Before she started working at ELHS, she managed a Dunkin’ Donuts for 19 years. It’s only her second year at the high school, but she already enjoys her job. Not only does she get to spend time with her daughter, but she also gets to spend time with the students: “The kids make me happy. They’re very pleasant and I just love talking to them.”
Ms. Goode is a reliable friend with deep family roots. She will always be working hard for those close to her.
Jamie Moreno:
If you’ve ever gotten a quesadilla, wrap, or panini, you have seen Jamie Moreno. Ms. Moreno works in the deli area during lunchtime. When she’s not at work, she enjoys doing nails and makeup as well as exploring abandoned buildings.
Ms. Moreno is the youngest in her family and has a brother and a sister. Like mother like daughter, she has two cats: Bruce and Blossom. She grew up in East Lyme and went to East Lyme High School. Ms. Moreno loves working at the high school. She enjoys staying busy, and with all of the students buying lunches, she is always entertained.
“I like interacting with the kids, which is why I like to do breakfast more. With lunch, it goes by really fast, and I don’t get to talk to the kids that much,” Ms. Moreno said.
She loves to cook and her favorite recipes mainly consist of Spanish foods like empanadas and a chicken stew. Ms. Moreno brings the energy that is needed to her work every morning and cheers up her coworkers like a cup of coffee.
Sonia Rivera:
Sonia Rivera can be found by the panini station with a smile on her face. Ms. Rivera enjoys reading, shopping, and hanging out with her family.
She grew up in Brooklyn, New York, and came to East Lyme when her husband began working for Electric Boat. Ms. Rivera has a big family – she only has one sibling, but she has many cousins that she is close with. Her sister is eight years younger than her and she also has a 21-year- old daughter.
Ms. Rivera began working at East Lyme when her daughter started going to school here. They wanted to have the same hours for school and work so that they could spend more time together.
Ms. Rivera likes to spend her free time shopping at Target. She spends lots of time in the book aisle as she enjoys reading in her free time. She also loves watching her favorite TV show, the “Sherri Shepherd Show” and playing video games. Super Mario is her favorite game.
Ms. Rivera is kind and sensitive: “I like to help people and ask how they are doing.” She will always be there for a friend, and is always checking in with her family. Rivera
