Class of 2025 vice president Jonny Harms, owner of JH Detailing has been able to create a large clientele with his car detailing and lawn mowing business. Harms started his business the summer before sophomore year, after learning the trade and working for one of his friends. After feeling more confident with his ability Harms started his own business.
His work entails deep cleans of the inside and outside of cars as well as thorough lawn mowing for his clients. On top of his business, Harms worked at Three Belles Marina over this past summer.
Harms said that his biggest growth period was the summer going into his sophomore year.
“I threw up an ad, because I wasn’t making enough there (Three Belles) and then it kind of took off and I got a lot of calls,” Harms said. He started off slow, but after reinvesting into the business for products and repairs from previous tools, such as his vacuum and cords that were breaking, he was able to get expand his business.
“I grew throughout the summer but once school started it slowed down again because I couldn’t meet demand so I closed down. In the spring I will start to reopen,” Harms said.
