Last night, Jalen Brunson had a historical performance against the Philadelphia 76ers in Game 4 of their matchup in the NBA playoffs. The New York Knicks point guard has been playing his best during the entire series. In Game 1, as the underdogs, Brunson and shooting guard Josh Hart rallied the Knicks to an upset victory 111-104, both having 22 points. In Game 2, the result was the same. The duo having over 20 points each and rallying their team for another win. In Game 3, The Knicks finally took a loss to the 76ers. However, Brunson played his best in the series, dropping a monstrous double-double with 39 points and 13 assists. The series now being tied 2-1, all eyes were on Brunson, Hart, and the Knicks. Were they going to bounce back in Game 4?
The answer is yes. In fact, they did more than bounce back. Brunson has had hype around him the entire season. Early on, during the first few months of the regular season, he already had the famous “MVP” chants when he got to the free-throw line. Averaging nearly 30 points and 7 assists during the regular season, the Knicks fan base has been backing Brunson since day one. However, with all this love from his local fans, most normal NBA fans don’t know how good he really is. And last night he showed everyone.
Brunson carried his team on his back. Having a historical 47 points, his team ended up winning 97-92. As soon as the buzzer sounded, Brunson had made history within the Knicks organization. He snapped a record that has been held since 1984, topping Bernard King’s previous playoff high-score record.
After this performance, the Knicks are fueled. I predict that they will take down the Philadelphia 76ers in a hard-fought Game 5.
