East Lyme was dominant, disciplined, and dedicated this season, with East Lyme’s fall teams putting together one of the most successful seasons in the school’s history.
TOP COACHES WRAPPED
Coach Wrapped #1: Jack Biggs – Girls’ Volleyball
Jack Biggs led the girls volleyball program through a season for the history books. The team won its third straight ECC Tournament Championship, went on a 24-game winning streak, and capped the season with a Class L State Championship which was the program’s third overall. Biggs was rightfully named Domino’s ECC Coach of the Year, as his team didn’t drop a single set to any ECC opponent all season.
Coach Wrapped #2: Wally Christensen – Boys’ Soccer
Consistency defines Wally Christensen’s impact. This fall, boys’ soccer captured its fourth straight ECC Tournament Championship, dominating Ledyard 4-0 in the finals. The team finished ranked #1 in Class L and Top 10 statewide across Classes LL and L. Christensen earned Domino’s ECC Coach of the Year, continuing a standard of excellence for the program.
TOP PLAYERS WRAPPED
Player Wrapped #1: Sam Leone – Boys’ Cross Country
Senior Sam Leone led boys cross country to its 8th straight ECC Championship, a 2nd place finish at the Class MM State Championship, and 3rd place at the State Open. Individually, Leone made school history by winning the Class MM individual championship in 15:37.52, edging out second place by less than one second. He finished the regular season 10–0 and became the first runner in East Lyme history to win that race. Leone was named Dominos ECC Player of the Year and Connecticut High School Coaches Association Runner of the Year.
Player Wrapped #2: Sylvi Otter – Girls’ Swim & Dive
Junior Sylvi Otter made waves all season long. She scored the most points at the ECC Championships and was named Most Valuable Member, helping the team win its 25th straight ECC Championship with a dominant score of 571. Otter went on to win the Class M State Diving Championship, becoming the first East Lyme diver since 2015 (Jazzy Bazinet) to earn a state title.
CLASS ACT LEADERSHIP
East Lyme’s success isn’t just measured by wins. The Class Act Leadership Council, made up of 16 juniors and seniors, helped earn the school the Michaels Jewelers Achievement Cup for sportsmanship which is East Lyme’s first since 2015–16 and the only ECC school recognized this year.
