BASEBALL TEAM MID-SEASON OVERVIEW

As of mid season, the EL baseball is standing at an astonishing record of 13-4, beating the likes of Woodstock, Coventry and Norwich Free Academy in steady fashion. Cruising through multiple talented playoff teams, the team is looking to make a long run in the playoffs.

After a 10-2 victory over Fitch on 5/11, the team clinched the regular season ECC title. “Our most notable win is definitely against Glastonbury. Playing against such a strong team and taking a commanding win against them comes to show how legit we really are,” junior left fielder Connor Tukey said.

Their recent success has stemmed from one main aspect: team chemistry. Connectivity is a massive part of sports and the EL baseball team has some of the best chemistry in the ECC. “I think our success as a team comes from our great team chemistry, we’ve been playing together since little league,” Tukey said.

The individual success within this baseball team can’t be understated. Some team stat leaders include senior catcher Quinn Killoy batting .522 and both senior third baseman Gavin O’Brien and senior center fielder John Bureau collecting 18 hits each. Other standout stats on the team include Killoy having an on base percentage of .645 and junior starting pitcher Alex Dreyfus having a ERA of 0.759.

With the team now being able to play at their home field at the high school, they have a lot of potential to make both a deep ECC tournament and state tournament run.
