Kai Jolly-Ballantine
“Properly fuel your body,” Kai Jolly-Ballantine a junior at ELHS said. Jolly-Ballantine rows year round for ELHS crew. He describes how he manages time with homework while also training for crew. His advice: ease into training more, don’t just wake up one day and expect to be able to train in the morning while also getting enough rest and doing homework. Scheduling is important. He also stresses eating and sleeping properly. If someone doesn’t get enough sleep or food they can’t function properly and get all their work done.
Veronica Castro
“Using my time wisely,” junior Veronica Castro said. Castro runs cross country and plays tennis for ELHS. She explains that making sure you have a schedule to get everything done and to take breaks when you feel your attention slipping are important. Castro explains that she does her homework in the order she has classes the next day, blocking off a certain amount of time for each one depending on how long she thinks the assignment will take her.
Ava Korenick
“Always have a planner and write things down,” Ava Korenick, a senior at ELHS said. Korenick plays field hockey and will be one of three softball captains in the spring. Korenick stresses the importance of knowing your workload and finding the time to complete it, whether it’s before practice, after, or waking up extra early to get it done.
