Three-time All-State athlete and senior Skylar Bell broke the East Lyme volleyball record for amount of career digs. At a Oct. 4 game against Simsbury, Bell had 30 digs bringing her total to 1,049 over her four years at East Lyme, beating a previous record of 997, set by older sister Madison.
“When I hit my 1000th dig I felt so loved, all the posters I got, the game ball I got,” Bell said.
“She had big shoes to follow, but she’s already filled them,” volleyball coach Jack Biggs said.
Bell’s two older sisters, Madison and Alexis Bell, both played volleyball at East Lyme and were also All-State.
Madison went on to play at Eastern Connecticut State University, while Alexis played at Curry College in Massachusetts. Bell plans on attending nursing school and is still debating her future volleyball career.
