Replaying: ‘Young and Beautiful’ by Lana Del Rey
Ever since reading “The Great Gatsby” in sophomore year, I have been even more obsessed with this song than I was before. It encapsulates the old money, long lost love and sad Lana vibes perfectly. Lana Del Rey is amazing and her music always sounds ethereal- it is always on replay for me.
Eating: Paninis
ELHS now has a panini press located on the far left of the cafeteria. You pick the ingredients and the cafeteria staff makes it to order. The first time I got a panini for lunch, I was in shambles. I was in disbelief that something so wonderful could be offered as school lunch. You can get a wrap, panini, quesadilla, or sandwich.
Product: Barbie x Kitsch Heatless Hair Curler
If you don’t know what a heatless hair curler is, it’s a rod that you wrap your hair around before you go to sleep. It takes five minutes to take out the curler in the morning, revealing (almost) perfect curls. Heatless curls save me time and heat damage. I got my curler from Marshall’s and I will never go back to regularly curling my hair with an iron.
Obsession: Peppermint Christmas
I love Christmas and I appreciate any and all Christmas aesthetics. However, I’ve recently been obsessed with the “Peppermint Christmas” vibe. Peppermint mocha coffee, pink, red, and white decorations, glitter, and candy canes- it’s festive and fun yet simple and chic.
Recommendation: ‘McFarland, U.S.A.’
My Spanish teacher had us watch this movie in class. Surprisingly, this was probably one of my favorite movies I’ve watched in a long time. The movie tells the inspiring, true story of Coach White starting a successful cross country team in a lower class town of mostly Latino/Hispanic people. I cried multiple times when we watched it- it was emotional and inspiring.
Treat: Vanilla Eggnog
Last week, I bought a carton of vanilla eggnog from Target. It tastes like vanilla ice cream and it’s even better with a pinch of nutmeg and cinnamon. It’s perfect for the holiday season too!
