After more than a decade of demons, cursed objects, and nightlights left on, “The Conjuring” franchise reaches its finale with “The Conjuring: Last Rites.” The movie promises a heavy, emotional sendoff for Ed and Lorraine Warren, though it only partially delivers on that ambition.
Lorraine (Vera Farmiga) and Ed Warren (Patrick Wilson) remain the heart and soul of these films. Every glance and whispered prayer keeps the story grounded, even when the script leans into familiar horror cliches. Their performances deserve a film that hits as hard as the original did. Coming from me, the “Last Rites” were extraordinary.
The scares hit too. The sound design alone earns some jumps, and the gothic religious visuals create a creepy atmosphere that truly honors the franchise.
The film leans into what longtime fans love: haunted tension, spiritual battles, and just enough mystery to keep viewers gripping their armrests.
“Last Rites” respects the Warrens’ legacy and offers a finale that feels both thrilling and heartfelt. It might not reinvent the series, though it absolutely reminds audiences why “The Conjuring” became a horror staple in the first place.
