From an Incoming Junior to an Incoming Freshman: Tips for High School

Stepping into freshman year can be an overwhelming challenge, but here’s some ways to succeed in your first year in ELHS

Join Clubs to Celebrate Your Passions

The clubs in ELHS are all exciting opportunities for you to explore your passions. Clubs like Key Club, which specializes in volunteering, Best Buddies, which forms connections and friendship, and tons more are all incredible experiences. In addition to your passions, clubs are incredible opportunities for making friendships and memories. Even if it’s a completely new experience, it’s a chance to find your “tribe.” To expose yourself to tons of clubs, take a trip to the club fair!

PRO is on Your Side

Run by upperclassmen, the PRO organization is a huge help to freshmen who need assistance to begin their school year. Whether it’s tours of the school, schedule help, or even just a mentor and helping hand, students in PRO are a significant help to making sure your freshman year starts off smoothly.

Ask for Help

Your teachers and counselors are here to both help and support you, whether it’s for choosing classes, making sure you achieve your best, or getting that little bit of extra help you need. Don’t be afraid to reach out and ask for any advice or assistance.

Bring Your Spirit!

It’s not lame whatsoever to participate in any form of Viking spirit! Whether it’s football games or Spirit Week, bringing pride and excitement is a clear pathway to enjoying the school year. It’s not weird at all to come across crazy pj sets, decades attire, and splashes of yellow, green, red, and blue all around the school.
