On Friday, Nov. 25, a swarm of swimmers streamed into ELHS’s aquatic center, gearing up for a meet full of diverse competitors, all with one thing in common: ELHS swim and dive.

The swim team’s 2022 alumni meet was held over Thanksgiving Break, and hosted around 40 swimmers who were either current members or alumni of ELHS’s swim and dive teams. With alumni dating back to the Class of 2014, the high energy was infectious.

“My high school swim team are my closest friends from high school,” Class of 2019 alum Eric Gu said. “When I walked into the locker room and everyone saw me, they were like, ‘Oh, Eric, you’re back!’”

The meet was co-ed, so there was an extra chance for bonding between the girls’ and boys’ teams, especially since their seasons are at different times of the year.

“I immediately felt right back at home with the teammates I had swam with,” Gu said.
