Breaking Down the “Kimye” Drama (ft. Julia Fox)

A timeline of Kim Kardashian and Kanye (now Ye) West’s drama involving their divorce and Ye’s new girlfriend, Julia Fox

  1. Nearly a year after Kardashian filed for divorce from West, he immediately moved on and publicly announced his new relationship with Julia Fox. Before Fox, he was linked to models Irina Shayk and Vinetria, who he was seen on vacations with.
  1. Shortly after West and Fox were spotted together in January 2022, US Weekly confirmed that Fox’s husband, Peter Artemiev, had filed for divorce two years prior. According to US Weekly, Fox had “previously opened up about the ups and downs in her relationship with her ex, referring to Artemiev as a ‘deadbeat dad’ in December 2021.”
  1. Fox said on an Instagram story, “This man left me with a 5 month old and a dog and a home and ALL THE BILLS. It’s wrong!!! It’s not fair. He 1000 percent intentionally got me pregnant. It’s a blessing. I’m happy about it. I would not change it.”
  1. One month later, Fox confirmed her relationship with West, saying he “swept her off her feet.” She wrote in a post for Interview in January 2022, ‘I mean, I’m still in shock. Ye had an entire hotel suite full of clothes. It was every girl’s dream come true. It felt like a real Cinderella moment. I don’t know how he did it, or how he got all of it there in time. But I was so surprised. Like, who does things like this on a second date? Or any date!”
  1. Despite many rumors surrounding Fox and West’s relationship, Fox claimed she and West were serious on the Call Her Daddy podcast. Speaking to host Alex Cooper, Fox said, “I call him my boyfriend and he calls me his girlfriend.”
  1. Fox went on to address more rumors that showed comparisons of her copying Kardashian’s style. She explained that West was pushing her looks outside her comfort zone, which coincidentally had Fox wearing similar outfits to those that Kardashian has worn in the past. Fans of Kardashian will know that in her time with West, he has heavily influenced her fashion and has even been credited for “revolutionizing” Kardashian’s image entirely.
  1. Going back to West’s surprise of clothes for Fox, some people have suggested that West is “love bombing” her, a term used to describe overwhelming a new partner with words, actions, and even gifts as a way to eventually emotionally manipulate them. However, Fox denied these claims during her podcast appearance and said that West pushes her to be the “best version” of herself.
  1. Hours after the podcast episode aired, West shared an Instagram post expressing his hopes to be reunited with Kardashian and his children (North, Saint, Chicago, and Psalm). Following the release of Kardashian’s new US Vogue cover, which included her and her four kids, West shared the images on Instagram and wrote, “GOD PLEASE BRING OUR FAMILY BACK TOGETHER.” This happened days after Kardashian and West got into a messy online feud.
  1. Kardashian had accused West of “constant attacks” after he questioned why his daughter, North, was on TikTok with a public post. West then shared a caption reading, “What do you mean by main provider? America saw you try to kidnap my daughter on her birthday by not providing the address (in reference to a dispute they had last month over their now-4-year-old daughter Chicago’s birthday party, which West claimed he ‘wasn’t allowed’ to attend).”
  1. He proceeded with another post saying, “I will no longer put my hand through a blender to hug my children,” and claimed that the perception of his and Kardashian’s (Kim) family was being “one sidedly controlled” and questioned their “joint custody agreement.” He then went on and targeted the Kardashian family more broadly, claiming that they “played games with Black men’s lives.”
  1. On Feb. 8, West quickly shared and deleted two posts demanding a public apology not only from Kardashian, but from the entire family. Fox has yet to address West’s latest Instagram post.
