As prom season is coming up, many girls start to dress shop as early as January for the best selection. They then spend the next few months stressing over dress alterations, prom jewelry, heels, a date, and what to do after prom. Boys, however, have it easier. They either grab a suit and tie and go with friends, or they get told by their date what
to wear, and they have the expectation of behaving well on prom night. The biggest question is: how can we make prom less stressful, and more fun?
Two Words → The Look
Once you have your dress picked out, start looking for what you want in terms of accessories (jewelry, heels, etc). Look on Pinterest, TikTok, and other social media to get ideas of what you are looking for. Ask your friends what they are doing, and if you are really indecisive, ask ChatGPT for ideas. For hair and makeup, practice your look early on to narrow down what you are looking for to ensure you will be happy with what you chose on prom night.
Aiming at the Guys Now → How to be a Good Date
How to be a good date: Prompose. Make sure you prompose early enough, not just a week or two before prom, because that adds stress. Seriously, do something you know she will like. Make sure to listen to what she says about your tie to match her dress and about the details for pictures. Just be nonchalant and go with the flow, but also care, and tell her she looks beautiful. Finally, make sure she is having a great time during prom and dance with her if she asks.
What to do if You Don’t Want to go With a Date?
Honestly, going to prom with friends will probably end up being the most fun. Get ready together, take pictures, and don’t worry about having to deal with a date. After all, you will remember how much fun you had with friends for years to come.
