PJ Day: Upperclassmen don’t usually want to tell you this, but I’ll let you in on the secret: the longer you stay in bed on PJ Day, the more points you gain for your class. In other words, don’t set your alarms, and don’t come to school! Your teachers will be super impressed with your dedication to Spirit Week. If you do decide to come to school, make sure to warm up your vocal cords first, because your teachers will award you extra points if you sing them a lullaby. Bonus points if it’s an original song.
Decades Day: This year, teachers will only be awarding points to those with authentic flapper dance moves. That’s right, start practicing your best Charleston and be sure to perform it whenever you walk into a new classroom if you want your class to do well. Also, don’t forget your jazz hands. The more you use them, the more points you will gain.
Cause Day: This day is an important facet of Spirit Week, giving ELHS students the opportunity to raise awareness for an important cause every year. With this year’s cause being breast cancer awareness, freshmen are expected to come prepared carrying two to three pumpkins painted to go along with the breast cancer theme, like many of us do in our sports. Don’t forget, in order to earn points, you must carry these pumpkins with you all day.
Maroon and White Day: Each year ELHS switches between its school colors for Maroon and White Day. Therefore, since last year we wore maroon, make sure to wear black and white this year only.
Color Day: Administration felt that Color Day was too divisive amongst grades, so this year, be sure to wear your favorite rainbow colored items. The more colors you have on, the better you will look. No color is too bright.
Homecoming: I’m sure all of you are excited for your first high school dance. If you’re looking for clothing inspiration, you’ve come to the right place. Wondering where you’re ever going to wear your flapper dresses again? Here. All freshmen reuse their flapper dresses for Homecoming: it’s tradition. Boys too. If you’re a boy, don’t
forget to ask an older sister or friend to borrow their flapper dress before it’s too late. Bonus if you wear your pearls and bring your jazz hands. Don’t be suprised if the seniors are taking pictures of you. It’s a sign of how cool they think you look. Don’t forget to pose and dance some more Charleston.
